In formally taking up his role as the new president of the International Council of Tanners (ICT) at the organisation’s council meeting in Hong Kong on March 30, Italian tanning industry leader Rino Mastrotto scored an unusual hat-trick.
His confirmation as ICT president means Mr Mastrotto holds this role concurrently with the presidency of the representative body of the leather industry in the European Union, COTANCE, and that of Italy’s national tanning industry association, UNIC.
Mr Mastrotto, who heads the Vicenza-based Rino Mastrotto Group of tanneries, has been the elected president of UNIC since 2011. In June 2012, the COTANCE general assembly elected him as president for a two-year term. Taking over the presidency of the ICT in March, from Wolfgang Goerlich of Brazilian industry association CICB, means Rino Mastrotto now heads the tanning industry representative bodies for Italy, the European Union and the world.
